DESCRIPTION: EPW - Barthelemy Girod, gold verge fusee repeater, 16-18K gold (tested, exhibiting slow fade of 18K solution on stone) OF pair cases, outer with attractive multicolor detail of two women and a winged putto, inner with piercing for sound transmission, outer with no evident markings, bell not removed from inner to inspect for markings, white enamel dial, paste set hands, empty slot under dial at 7 was possibly originally for a dumb repeat slide, KWKS, verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled balance cock, signed gilt locking dust-cap, no visible s#. Gross weight of assembled watch 61.0 dwt (95.0 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: NR, chain detached and remaining portion is wrapped around barrel, repeat function (likely a quarter-hour repeater) is not engaging as pendant is depressing without resistance, hands not setting which we suspect likely indicates repeat mechanism is stalled in engagement and preventing their motion, overhaul needed, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scratches and fine scratches; dial with edge chipping at 4 and 6, small perimeter hls at 4:30 and 8; fine hands, hour missing all pastes, minute missing one paste; outer case shows little wear, darkened patina to portions of rear, some mild dings, excellent engraving detail, button latch with good function, button has lost portion of its surface and been inset with a diamond; inner case shows light wear, dent to lower-left perimeter of rear, some circumferential denting, pendant is missing its cap; bow pivots freely; domed glass crystal with some edge chips and crystal pops out of bezel frequently when handling.
